We have added a second drive to the web2 linux box at the Dallas Network to provide an enormously expanded disk space level to customers. (from 50gb to 250gb)
The server cpu useage and bandwidth hum along fine but we have some high disk space users which prompted the additional drive.  We ran into some hiccups because usually it would mean adding a new server with hsphere, but with cpu not being a problem there was no need for the added expense in this case.

The upgrade is now completed. Thank you to our loyal customers for the understanding over the past week to accomplish this task.

Today Miditech launched our Managed Dedicated Server Options on our websites with full online ordering.

We started offering dedicated options in the spring of 2008 and it took a while to design the new options and implement online order system.  We still have some work to do on the midibuy order pages - mostly cosmetic.

Miditech has a new website that we will be developing further in the coming weeks/months called http://midibuy.com . Right now it is live to facilitate ordering of dedicated server options, but eventually there will be many Miditech services and options which can be selected and purchased for just about all your Internet web business needs.

Miditech Hosting/Design

Miditech has made a change to it’s payment methods for MONTHLY Billing Terms on MDR-1 and HSRP reseller plans:

Credit Card Merchants are getting tough on non signature transactions. They are basically forcing on businesses to move to a gateway. However, many gateways are not inexpensive, especialliy when Miditech has had no chargebacks since 1996 when our company started.. an extremely good track record. Yet they want us to switch to a gateway - their gateway. Doing so will incur higher costs for transactions and so Miditech has decided to use PayPal as our gateway provider.

There is also a need for more payment methods and using paypal as our gateway allows customers to pay the way they want. Also we can accept credit card payments via the paypal gateway, even if you do not have a paypal account. Customers/resellers do not need to be paypal members to pay us through the paypal gateway. The paypal gateway offers great security and is a firmly established business for transcations. In fact, PayPal is owned by Ebay.

Most resellers want to be setup with automatic renewals using their credit card. Miditech can still do this BUT (there is always a but right?) we need specific information regarding your credit card. We have already begun to contact resellers to obtain the needed info.

A side effect of using paypal though is that it will take 5-7 business days before Miditech will have access to the payments made. And we know that in business monthly cash flow is important. We have monthly costs to pay out as well as a business.

So we will be making a policy change effective July 24th:

MDR-1 and HSRP-1 plans with a MONTHLY billing term, with renewal dates between…

…..the 1st and the 14th of the month, will have their renewal date changed to the 1st of the month. We will automatically renew your account prior to the renewal date in an ongoing basis for those with automatic credit card renewal. (15th-31st of previous month)
…..the 15th and the 31th of the month, will have their renewal date changed to the 15th of the month. We will automatically renew your account prior to the renewal date in an ongoing basis for those with automatic credit card renewal. (1st-15th of current month)

This allows for the week delay that using the paypal gateway will cause and also help lower our costs.

Recently merchant companies have been tightening security for non signature transactions. We have been looking for ways to improve payment methods for customers in a secure way, while lowering costs.

In light of this and the high costs incurred by banks for this purpose Miditech is now using PayPal Gateway for all credit card transactions.

Miditech has offered custom designed website packages since our company started in 1996. And we still highly recommend a custom and unique built website for most businesses.  Why? It is about BRAND. Brand is very important both offline and online. Establishing a brand can take time but having a custom built website can become part of your entire business brand mix. The retail store sign, the company logo, the colours etc all make for your company uniqueness to the marketplace.

That said, for Internet startups with smaller budgets a Template website design package may fit the need better.

Web hosting companies live in a very competitive marketplace. In the last few years some hosts have started to pop into the hosting industry offering customers the world for next to nothing as far as resources go. They claim to provide you with “unlimited disk space” and “unlimited bandwidth” and all for the low low cost of $6/month. Beware of such hosts! They are overselling to the extent that it is impossible to maintain for a long term.

Although all hosts have different costs, these selling prices are in an extremely low range of what would be reasonable in a competive marketplace. There is much more to web hosting then just the amount of disk space and bandwidth that a web host plan offers a customer. MUCH MORE!

H-Sphere 3.1 has now been released to the general public for installation. Miditech will not be performing the upgrade until a patch or two has been created.  We have heard of some issues with the upgrade so we will hold off until a few patches have been applied.

When we do install the new version there are some very nice features that will be coming with it!
